CADET-SHIP TRAINING PROGRAM: an achievement of today and beyond..
In its commitment to build and strengthen the ties to the next generation, MMPI is now continually producing cadets specifically trained under the MMPI curriculum. The vision of providing quality cadets to become future deck and engine officers is intended for the principal’s demand of high-caliber seafarers whose skills can be used throughout the shipping organizations. With the foregoing provision, this will continue to enhance the reputation of the industry and the Filipino seafarers.
Mainly, the program was established for the following purposes:
MMPI & Misuga Kaiun Co. Ltd have already established a harmonious relationship to the following partner schools that are genuinely supportive since the beginning of our program way back year 2006. Annually, they launched a comprehensive selection exam to endorse freshmen cadets who meet the criteria of the program.
Mainly, the program was established for the following purposes:
- To develop young, potential and well-trained cadets to be future officers onboard MMPI’s manned vessels
- To provide qualified seafarers who meet consistently the quality standard of the principals

SELECTION PROCESS:
To qualify, they should pass the required passing score in written exam for Math & English subjects. An oral interview shall also be administered after the exam by principal’s representatives. A confirmed passer shall also undergo the medical exam at the accredited clinic referred by the company to determine his fitness. He needs to maintain his good academic performance for three consecutive years leading to his Bachelor’s Degree.
PRE-EMBARKATION PROCESS:
Pre-Embarkation Training has three (3) months lecture period for theoretical principles and practical training to get familiarize with the daily operations at the ships. This is purposely conducted to teach and prepare the cadets with the knowledge and skills significant for life onboard and vessel’s safety operation.
Consequently, the cadet must complete first his three (3) years academic requirements before joining the in-house training and below documents shall be submitted to the office.

SHIPBOARD TRAINING PROCEDURE:
The cadet’s twelve (12) months apprenticeship training is based on the structured program provided by the company. Onboard performance is monitored by the designated training officer through the weekly monitoring report submitted by the Master onboard. This report describes the designed activities the cadet needs to accomplish on a weekly basis along with the Master’s feedback and comments who assess his progress onboard.
INVESTING FOR THE FUTURE:
MMPI and Misuga Kaiun Co. Ltd have already developed some Junior Officers/ Engineers who are taking great role in the shipping organization. Part of their continuous training is taking participation in the five-day leadership seminar (Officers' Dialogue) sponsored by the office.
