       DIALOGUE

OFFICERS' DIALOGUE:

Leadership begins with learning how to manage one’s own personality, temperament and time. It is where we know how well we are in handling our daily tasks and responsibilities. A good leader cannot lead others effectively until he leads himself positively and constructively. In maritime industry, especially seafarers on board ship, leadership plays a very important role and more on the part of the officers. An officer equipped with good leadership is effective in handling people.

Recognizing this, Maine Marine Philippines Inc. conceived Officers’ Dialogue, a seminar where leadership, technical, and management skills are taught in order to mold the officers to become noble leaders who can lead the other officers and subordinates on board. 

It is a five-day seminar which includes lectures on Leadership/Management styles, Maritime-related topic such as Preventive Measures on Accidents, Training and Education, Health Management on board and other information on latest Maritime Policies. Part of the leadership seminar is grouping activities intended to enhance decision-making and management capabilities of officers/engineers.

The following are the objectives of the Dialogue:


  • To further improve/enhance the supervisory skills of both senior and junior officers for a multifaceted role as a leader, communicator, coach and motivator
  • To provide our officers valuable principles, techniques and approaches to effective leadership
  • To provide updates and additional information on incidents in managed vessels

Maine Marine Philippines, Inc. conducts the Officers’ Dialogue twice a year; it started way back 2001 and is continually being conducted up to the present time. It was first conducted for the senior officers only until it opened its door to junior officers in 2006.
